Ernst Ingvar Harald Engdahl was born in 1938 in Lund, Sweden. He worked in a variety of disciplines, from painting to interior design. He studied at Skåne painting school in Malmö in his youth, before participating in various exhibitions and winning a major competition to decorate Stockholm’s Ormen Långe quarter. His work is still held today by the Helsingborg Musueum.

This piece is bright, expressive and fragmented. Engdahl worked with a wide range of materials, producing the likes of both paintings and mosaics. This piece seems to amalgamate the two, piecing together abstracted shapes and forms as a part of a broader whole. Different textures are achieved through the layering of different elements, which in turn are drawn over with faint pencil lines that connect the piece’s disparate elements. At once chaotic and harmonious, both paintings find their meaning in a series of contradictions between natural and mechanical shapes, as well as between light and dark tones. Whilst the pair of collages make use of the same vocabulary of shapes and colours, they are unique in the way they produce their ‘mosaics’ of forms. This piece, unlike the other, is also mounted on a wooden frame.

    Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

    Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost.     Returns

    For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

    We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
