In this oil on canvas, we are presented with a bold still life, where vessels and fruit are placed within a world of abstraction. The three central forms punctuate the composition and their definitive edges contrast with areas of unmixed paint and loose brushwork. The paint appears to have been scraped across the canvas in rapid bursts, and when combined with the warmth of the colour palette, expresses a sense of energy and vitality. 

Through the use of contrasting tones and varying hue strengths, the artist has explored the extremes of the relationship between light and shade, to dramatic effect. A distinctive feature of this work is the thick application of paint, a technique known as Impasto. Other renowned artists who used this approach were Frank Auerbach and Jackson Pollock, who produced heavily textured works when the technique re-emerged in the mid-twentieth century.

    Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

    Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

    *Please note! Our delivery costs include a one-person delivery service with delivery to the ground floor only. If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost. Please be sure to inform us at checkout of any special circumstances.

    Returns

    For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

    We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
