Known for being an innovator, socialist, idealist, rebel and provocateur, Copenhagen-born Kay Hagstrøm explored a range of creative endeavours throughout his life in Denmark. Initially trained as a tailor, he quickly moved into photography while he still lived in Copenhagen.

In the early 1950s, the artist began another new interest: painting. He set up a small studio and became chairman of an association known as the Gribskov Painters. He produced a large number of paintings but chose to keep them for himself instead of putting them up for sale.

The confident use of vertical lines and forms punctuate this striking painting. We can observe how the artist has carefully placed the interlocking colours and how the techniques of repetition and contrast have created a bold painting that radiates with intensity.

    Small item deliveries (ceramics, candles, prints, glassware, etc.) are shipped with Royal Mail or DPD. Prices are calculated at checkout.

    Local Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries (sofas, lounge chairs, storage, tables, floor lighting, etc.) on within the local vicinity of our showroom in East London (E2, E5, E8, E9, N1 + N16) are charged at a flat rate of £24.*

    Greater London/UK Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

    Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

    *Please note! Our delivery costs include a one-person delivery service with delivery to the ground floor only. If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost. Please be sure to inform us at checkout of any special circumstances.

    Returns

    For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

    We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
