Danish artist Gerda Berthelsen Lobedanz (b 1912) studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and her artistic career spanned decades. She worked from the studio townhouses in Utterslev Mose, north-west Copenhagen, and these lakeside buildings were her home and art studio base since they first opened in the 1940s. 

In this oil on canvas, white ground surfaces and bare tree silhouettes suggest we are looking at a rural scene in winter. The predominant use of cool colour tones emphasise the qualities of a cold climate. A notable characteristic of this painting is the use of a pale colour wash. This technique, which involves the use of diluted paint layered over other areas of colour, creates transparency and consistency over the surface of the work, unifying the whole composition. The white colour wash also has a cooling effect, reinforcing the sense that the artist has captured a cold winter scene.

Small item deliveries (ceramics, candles, prints, glassware, etc.) are shipped with Royal Mail or DPD. Prices are calculated at checkout.

Local Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
Large item deliveries (sofas, lounge chairs, storage, tables, floor lighting, etc.) on within the local vicinity of our showroom in East London (E2, E5, E8, E9, N1 + N16) are charged at a flat rate of £24.*

Greater London/UK Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

*Please note! Our delivery costs include a one-person delivery service with delivery to the ground floor only. If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost. Please be sure to inform us at checkout of any special circumstances.

Returns

For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
