Danish painter Ivan Kyrum was born in 1942 in Helsinge. He spent a number of years living in Hårslev, North Funen where he produced a large body of paintings in his studio and exhibited them in his own gallery. Forms and textures found in nature were a significant source of inspiration to the artist, and he often kept tree trunks, branches and stones in his studio.

When we look at this painting, we immediately appreciate the artist’s love of colour. Layers of complimentary colours collide in an explosion of hues and textures. Vibrant spatters of blue spill over worn, pale oranges, while vivid greens envelope pops of coral red. This array of contrasting colour creates a harmonious painting and is a confident statement by the artist.

The artist has added depth to the canvas by building many layers of paint that deepen the textural quality of the entire painting. When we look more closely at the surface textures, we are reminded of the ways in which nature weathers and shapes materials. Rich, textural oranges create the look of rusting iron, while the dashes of broken patches of blue towards the top of the canvas remind us of exterior painted surfaces weathered by nature.

    Small item deliveries (ceramics, candles, prints, glassware, etc.) are shipped with Royal Mail or DPD. Prices are calculated at checkout.

    Local Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries (sofas, lounge chairs, storage, tables, floor lighting, etc.) on within the local vicinity of our showroom in East London (E2, E5, E8, E9, N1 + N16) are charged at a flat rate of £24.*

    Greater London/UK Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

    Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

    *Please note! Our delivery costs include a one-person delivery service with delivery to the ground floor only. If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost. Please be sure to inform us at checkout of any special circumstances.

    Returns

    For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

    We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
