Born in 1925, Kjeld E. Petersen was educated in drawing at the Technical School in Copenhagen and went on to become a lithographer in 1947. As an artist, he produced a large body of paintings in a range of styles that included figurative depictions of everyday objects, surrealist forms and abstract works such as this oil painting.

When we observe this oil on canvas, we are invited into a world of rich textures and tactile surfaces. The paint appears to have been applied in rapid strokes that have the effect of creating a sense of energy and movement, while the artist's use of both a brush and a flat palette knife to scrape paint over the surface adds depth and variations in texture. Among the flurry of paint marks, the artist has built a subtle composition of diagonal grids and lines that give the painting structure and balance.

    Delivery

    Small item deliveries (ceramics, candles, prints, glassware, etc.) are shipped with Royal Mail or DPD. Prices are calculated at checkout.

    Local Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries (sofas, lounge chairs, storage, tables, floor lighting, etc.) on within the local vicinity of our showroom in East London (E2, E5, E8, E9, N1 + N16) are charged at a flat rate of £24.*

    Greater London/UK Bulky Item Delivery Guidelines
    Large item deliveries outside of our local area but within Greater London are charged at a flat rate of £36.

    Mainland UK large item deliveries are priced at £58.*

    *Please note! Our delivery costs include a one-person delivery service with delivery to the ground floor only. If you are unable to assist with unloading or require your purchase to be carried up any flights of stairs there will be an extra cost. Please be sure to inform us at checkout of any special circumstances.

    Returns

    For items purchased over the phone or online we do offer the standard 14 day cooling off period whereby the customer is entitled to a full refund (excluding shipping charges), no questions asked. A 10% restocking fee may be applied to furniture returns at our discretion.

    We do not offer refunds or returns on publications or items bought in person in store unless the goods in question are proven faulty/unfit for purpose.
